Class Two - Are You Valuable?
Having an B.S. degree in Economics and spending quite a bit of my career at Carlson studying Finance I found this class to be quite interesting since large areas of focus in Economics and Finance is putting a value on something. Since we have a written assignment on value I won't spend much time discussing the value of new technology but instead talk about the conclusions talking about people's motivations and what competencies are valued in a business relationship. I was very surprised to learn that senior leaders in a company value business acumen and strategic thinking more than being able to think quickly or having great listening skills. Working in consulting for a couple of years I would say that listening to your client's concerns and understanding their business is the most crucial aspect of a client relationship.
